Wish You Were Here is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 12 September 1975 through Harvest Records and Columbia Records.

Pink Floyd followed the commercial breakthrough of Dark Side of the Moon with Wish You Were Here, a loose concept album about and dedicated to their founding member Syd Barrett.

Wish You Were Here stands as a haunting reflection on absence, alienation, and the cost of success. Released in 1975, the album follows the massive success of The Dark Side of the Moon, but its introspective themes, driven by the band’s disillusionment with the music industry and the mental decline of former member Syd Barrett, give it a deeper, more personal resonance. Tracks like Shine On You Crazy Diamond act as tributes to Barrett, while the title track taps into universal feelings of disconnection. Musically, the album blends Pink Floyd’s signature progressive rock with elements of blues, creating a sprawling, meditative experience.
