Pole Fading (Vinyl)

German electronic producer, Stefan Betke aka Pole was a key player in establishing the electronic ‘micro glitch’ sub-genre in the early 2000s with three highly influential LPs – ‘Pole 1’, ‘Pole 2’ and ‘Pole 3’.

He has continued to release new works every few years, and his 2020 release, Fading, was influenced by experiencing a family member gradually succumb to the degeneration caused by dementia.

Its not a cheery inspiration, but there’s a surprising warmth to his work here as he gradually fills and empties out these eight immaculately sculpted soundscapes.
