Portishead Dummy (CD)

Dummy, the debut album by the British band Portishead, was released in 1994. Originating from Bristol, England, the band consists of Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons, and Adrian Utley, with Barrow serving as the primary producer. The album, which incorporates elements of trip-hop, features heavy use of sampling and turntablism, with Gibbons’ vocals as the centerpiece of its sound. Tracks like “Sour Times” and “Glory Box” became iconic for their dark flashes of old soul and film music, dehumanized electronic bleeps. The album received critical acclaim and was influential in shaping the trip-hop genre, helping to establish Portishead as a significant force in the 1990s music scene alongside Massive Attack and other groups.
