The Demiwhores – S/T (CD)

First & only album by Auckland stalwarts from the 2000s,The Demiwhores, comprising previously solo psycho-pop oddball Ed Gains, MF Joyce (also of future Boxcar Guitars, Drab Doo Riffs & Magic Factory notoriety), and more metal inclined drum fiend Anthony Pompeus, the sum indeed greater than the parts.

Heavily weighted passionate & melodic but twisted rok, some kinda Daniel Johnston-possessed & led mix of Sub Pop-ish grunge pop w/ramshackle Flying Nun scatter pop. Ten tunes bout coffins, celebrity obsession, vampires, abuse & other streams of darkness, all wrapped up in a smorgasbord of catchy hooks.
