2007 EP from the Detroit Don repressed.The 3 Chairs influence is tops here, with the simple-yet-funky drums, the soulful female vocals and the live drumming to lace it all together. “I Am These Roots” keeps the Detroit house stylings alive, sounding more like an Omar-S track than Theo Parrish, but I’m not going to complain here. I can already picture Francois K or Theo’s 3 Chairs bro Moodymann playing the hell out of this one. On the flip, smooth keys and some stellar percussion accompany the sexy female spoken-word on “Children Of The Drum.” But don’t get discouraged at the slow build when that bassline hits, there won’t be one butt left in its chair. Deep house gold. Thank you, Mr. Parrish!
